I am trying to open very old local database files with the current version of Xojo 2018 Release 4 using the Oct 2018 version of ValentinaPlugin.xojo_plugin. The database was created with Realbasic 5.5.4 November 2004 with V4RB 1.11 dated Sept 29, 2004.

I get an error saying the database is not Valentina 2 database. Is there a way to convert from this old format? I have access to the original Realbasic app and project.

Thank you,

Alex

Hi Alex,

The Valentina Studio 3.5.3 has "Utilities->Convert_1_2" action in the app menu.
I installed it on macOS 10.13.

I down loaded, VStudio_3_mac.dmg from the http://valentina-db.com/download/prev_releases/3.5.3/ directory. It install (Version 3.5.2 in about window) and runs. When I select the Convert_1_2... from the Utilities menu, I get a file chooser window and I select the database. After that, control returns immediately to the Studio window and nothing appears to happen. The file selected size and timestamp do no change. No new file is added to the directory with the original database file. Does it write a new file somewhere else? This is running in Demo mode, is that the problem?

Thank you for your help.

Demo mode should not be a problem, we need some test database to check. Is it possible to get this database?

I created a test 1.11 database using the examples and converted it, but only on Windows.
So there is some problem with the Mac version.

I have some databases, but they exceed 2 MB. Have a *.zip file of a database that is < 15 MB. What is your preferred method of transferring files.

Could you please upload it to Dropbox (or any other file sharing service)?

Sergey,

I was able to open the converted file. I haven't done much more to validate as I now need to update the classes representing the databases, as they are all the old ver 1.0 API with BaseObjects, etc. How did you convert this file? Is it a method I could use? I need to be able to periodically convert the production files as I work on testing new application.

Thank you for your effort to help me.
