VField Class: Value Methods

VField.SetBlank()

Declaration:

SetBlank()

Description:

Clears the value of a field.

  • If the field has a default value then sets its value to default.
  • Otherwise If the field is Nullable, then sets its value to NULL.
  • Otherwise for a numeric field, sets it to zero; for String fields, sets it to an empty string.

Example:

fld.SetBlank()

VField.GetString()

Declaration:

GetString() as String

Description:

Returns the value of the field as a string.

Example:

str = fld.GetString()

VField.SetString()

Declaration:

SetString( inValue as String )

Parameters:

  • inValue - New value for the field.

Description:

Sets a field value using strings, regardless of the assigned field type. When assigning a value to a field, Valentina converts the string into the appropriate type.

If you develop an application with a dynamic database structure, then you will use these methods instead of the Value property of the appropriate field class.

Example:

str = "aaaaa"
...
fld.SetString( str )
