Installing Valentina for LiveCode on your Computer

The Valentina for LiveCode install process works almost exactly the same under both MacOS X and Windows.

Download the Valentina for LiveCode installer to your hard disk.

You can find Valentina for LiveCode on either the Runtime LiveCode website or on the Paradigma Software website.

Exit or quit LiveCode.

Most developer tools will not recognize a component added while the developer tool is running. Play it safe with LiveCode and quit LiveCode during the installation process.

Run the installer.

Installer screens appear, as well as the Valentina End User License Agreement. After you read the EULA, follow the instructions of the installer.

Note: On some operating systems such as MacOS X, the installer asks for the admin password. This is a normal behavior for the operating system.

Exit the installer when installation is complete.

Windows

The installer creates a directory to contain the Paradigma software:

/My Documents/Paradigma Software/V4REV_4
/Program Files/Paradigma Software/vcomponents_win_vc

Mac OS X

The installer creates a directory to contain the Paradigma software:

HOME/Paradigma Software/V4REV_4
/usr/local/lib/vcomponents

Open the V4REV_4 folder and locate the the installer.rev project.

Note: If you install this onto Windows, you may be surprised that the icon association of a LiveCode Project is with WinRAR. So you cannot open this stack by double click. Instead you should run LiveCode and open it via File→OpenStack.

Following Runtime LiveCode's 2.7+ guidelines, an external installer creates a series of folders in your My Documents folder. Externals are stored in these folders. This is a normal behavior.

Quite LiveCode and start it again.

Valentina for LiveCode is now installed. If you suspect that there was a problem during the installation process, you can check to see if the external is installed correctly.

Open the Message Box and type in the following:

put the externalPackages of stack "home"

If the Valentina external was loaded successfully then “Valentina for LiveCode” will appear in the results.

Uninstalling Valentina for LiveCode

NOTE: The installation process of Valentina for LiveCode makes no changes to your Windows system registry.

You can uninstall the old fashioned way - drag all V4REV-related folders/files into the trash. This works for both MAC and Windows.
