Does Valentina Studio support in-place editing of the returned data from queries? In other words, can data fields only be edited in the edit view of the table?

Hello, Hakim

Currently it is supported only for Valentina database with RW cursor,
for all others databases Data Editor is the only option.

Hi Hakim and Sergey,

may be Hakim asks about Data Editor actually? It is not very clear what means "edit view of the table".

Hakim, please note, that Valentina Studio have 2 powerful tools:
1) Data Editor - where you can do a lots of things with records
2) SQL Editor - where you see selected records as result of SELECT query.

I confirm this, however, i don't want to migrate to a Valentina database. Hopefully this gets implemented someday as I know of another database manager that does this perfectly.

Hi Hakim,

1) so you mean SQL Editor and panel with records from SELECT?

2) it is okay on our forum to name other tools and where they can be better. We like to hear any such things to be able improve Valentina Studio

3) I guess such editing of records in OTHER tool have many enough limits. Something as
* must be PK selected
* must be single table SELECTed?

because I doubt they can edit fields of join records for ONE table, for example.

4) And for single-table case we have powerful Data Editor, where exists FILTER (CMD + F)... you can easy specify the same WHERE filter to see only some records. Try this way and let me know if it is not so comfortable as SQL Editor of other tool. ;)

Also please note that our Data Editor can work with 2 related tables. Again this can be quite powerful feature in your hands.

I meant the panel with records from SELECT. Navicat and DBeaver can easily edit the records without having to switch back to data editor or issuing another SQL statement. Valentina Studio can do this but it seems only with Valentina Database (*.vdb) files.

Well, they do issue hidden SQL UPDATE command.
We also can do this of course, we will put this on TODO list.
