Really stupid question: how do I test VReports with my own reports and data? The examples look simple enough. But I want to check a couple of things:

- "All controls" doesn't contain an example for html. I really need to check if html support is good. My html can be really crappy.
- How do I do multipage reports with html? Does the html break okay over pages?
- How do I do page numbers and a header?

Hello Beatrix,

how do I test VReports with my own reports and data?

Not clear. Usually, you create a datasource, query and report in the Valentina Studio Pro.

How do I do multipage reports with html? Does the html break okay over pages?

No, HTML can't be multipage.

How do I do page numbers and a header?

There is Page Number control, it can be placed on the Page Header region.

I don't have Valentina Studio Pro. So without Pro it's not even possible to test?

But I need multipage html anyways so I'll need to find another solution.

It is possible to do fast tests in a free version but created reports are temporary and not saved to disk.
With Valentina Server, it is also possible to run such temporary reports in V4RB application.

Very good. That's enough to get started.

Are any multipage reports possible where the fields goes over multiple pages?

I see a html control. But how do I tell the report that my data is html?

Attached is an example from a random spam email. There is a header, then at the top are the database fields (from, to etc). And the rest is the message body with 3 pages.

Is this possible with Valentina Reports? I don't think so.

When moving to Xojo 2020r1 I need a new solution. In the current Xojo version I make a html table and add that to the message body. I load the data into a html viewer and use the print to pdf functionality. Unfortunately, this doesn't work in 2020r1 anymore.

One field/control can't go over multiple pages.

After adding HTML control to report it is necessary to set it's source - double-click it or edit data property in inspector.

In the dialog we can specify a field with HTML data.

And the rest is the message body with 3 pages.

Is this possible with Valentina Reports?

No, if it can't be splitted into separate small parts.

Got it. But without multipage I can't use VReports.

The language in Valentina Studio (labels, error messages) is still terrible. The translations make me laugh - every time.
