Hi, about Xojo now being able to make iOS apps, any chance to get info about the roadmap for Valentina. Will I be able in the future to access my valentina db from an iOS app build from Xojo.

I know this is also a Xojo question, but what is your take on it.

Hi, Helge

But there is no third party plugins for iOS framework at the moment.

At least they state it on their support page:
Why are there no third party plugins that support the iOS framework?
Most plugins are built using a shared library. Shared libraries are not supported by Apple for iOS. We are exploring other methods of providing third party plugin support.

Currently we have Objective-C client library for iOS (iV4CC).
So after a plugin support will be added to iOS framework,
most probably support of connections to Valentina Server can be added for the start.

Do you need a local Valentina database support?

Just dreaming (and planning) to have my apps connect to a VServer and use it. The sooner the better. :) Thanks for responding.

I was going to ask what exactly you think about?
a) access to VSERVER?
b) having local db on iOS?

Any news on this ?

iOS can to PostgreSQL, so I'm desperately waiting for starting to use valentina as server as well... I don't want to learn a new db type again... I'll stick with valentina... :)

Hi Helge,

1) as I read above, problem is not in us, but in Xojo and plugin support?
I have go to that page Sergey points and reading

well, as for me ... Xoxo could use static library, why not ... although they need to find way to link it.

2) what can do postgre? working from Xojo as plugin?

3) In fact with 6.0 we introduce for VSERVER the REST API.
This is near to ideal way to access VSERVER without any binary CLIENT

This means that you can access VSERVER from any language and OS, which have sockets.
Including iOS, Android and WinMobile right now ...
Including python, and other languages to which we not provide native SDKs.

You can ready article about this way in our new WIKI v6

Does this means that I can make an iOS app, and connect and get data from a Valentina DB already, running the Server6 ?

That is just heaven :)

Yes you can start play with beta of VServer 6.0.

Please read article. You just connect to 8080 port, and send there SQL query packed into XML/JSON format.
Results you get back in same format.

Please notice, that we have separate category to discuss betas.
