I have a data set that contains multiple records where name field is same, however there are invoice numbers that are different, so Name1 may have 3 records, but 3 different invoice numbers. Then Name2 has 2 Invoice numbers on so on.

Name1 Invoice100
Name1 Invoice130
Name1 Invoice141
Name2 Invoice110
Name2 Invoice135
Name3 Invoice110
Name3 Invoice410
Name3 Invoice480

So the report output would be:

Name1
Invoice100
Invoice130
Invoice141

----------Page Break

Name2
Invoice110
Invoice135

----------Page Break

Name3
Invoice110
Invoice410
Invoice480

Etc...

I can't figure out how to force the Page break when it moves to next Name.

Any suggestions.

Hello Richard,

So you have grouping by name, right?
Then you can use new_page property of the column header.

Works but now the first page is blank.

Also when you see a warning like field15 text to big, how do you find that field?

Do you have a Report Header region?

If yes and If you need to print there something you can insert Page Break control to the Group Footer (instead of the new_page property of Group Header).

It is easy to see which field is too long.
In the Preview mode, you can switch to the Profile tab and check Names and Warnings options:

The report is not following the sort order. I tried using the order by in the sql as well as the grouping and sorting in the report writer.

With grouping, sorting can be defined only in the application, not the query.

So you have:
Groping - NameField Ascending
Sorting - InvoiceField Ascending

And the order is wrong, records are not sorted by InvoiceField?
Could you please add a few example values?
