I think someone made an adjustment. For a while it was popping up worse than Bugs Bunny but now seems content to stay in the hole after you get past the initial reveal.

Nope, still annoying. I click the X to close it, which should dismiss it forever. But just scrolling up and down brings it back. I close it again. Scroll and it comes back. Worse than Clippy (which dates me).

exists these options

show: The greeting dialog will always be shown when the plugin loads.
fade: The greeting dialog of the plugin will be shown, then fade away and stay hidden afterwards.
hide: The greeting dialog of the plugin will always be hidden until a user clicks on the plugin.
Defaults to show on desktop and hide on mobile.

We did use fade for months.

Much better! Now it doesn't appear until I click on the plugin icon. And when I dismiss it, it stays dismissed.

I was sort of fond of Kairu the Dolphin, the Clippy character in MS Office (Japanese), though she likely met her end in a tuna net
