I just tried to update my Windows x64 VServers and the installation could not complete because it could not find the file:

vcruntime140_1.dll

I have never seen this .dll file with a _1 in the name before. I renamed the existing vcruntime140.dll file to vcruntime140_1.dll and then received numerous entry point errors.

I tried numerous downloads of 9.8 and this error occurred on all my Windows x64 machines. I installed v9.7.4 and all is well again.

Ideas?

Scott

P.S. the v9.8 Mac version installs and works just fine.

Also, it appears the v9.8 VStudio on WIndows x64 is looking for the same vcruntime140_1.dll file and crashes upon launch.

Again, the MacOS v9.8 VServer and VStudio work just fine. It's the Windows x64 v9.8 downloads that did not work for me.

Hi Scott,

I wonder what Windows version you used?

Looks to be a side-effect from Visual-19

They say this installing redistributable package will help: choose 2019 Visual x32 or x64

Meanwhile, we will try to fix our installers.

Please try to install it again.

I am using Windows Server 2019 Enterprise.

The VStudio installer worked just fine. I installed the redistributable you indicated above and the VServer install works as well. Thanks for the fast service.

Yes sir - I installed the C Redistributable 2019 then VServer and it worked as expected.

To be safe, I will reinstall the new VServer rebuild when you push it out. Thanks again for your help!

This is affecting the Reports runtime on client computers as well. Looks like you'll need to include this dll in the vcomponents_win_vc folder as well.

Hi Jay,

yes, it must be in vcomponents_win_vc and deployment scripts need to copy it into the final App.

we will try to improve things in 9.8.1 and 9.8.2

Hi Jay,

I want to clarify. You have installed V4RB 9.8, and this dll already was in vcomponents_win_vc, yes?
I expect that V4RB installer installs it.

If not, please specify which version windows you use and iif it is 64 or 32 bit OS.
Although ... this dll exists only for 64-bit OS, so you should have 64-bit then...

No, the 9.8 V4RB installer did not install this dll in vcomponents_win_vc. I had to get it from elsewhere (VStudio installation). But this wasn't caught until I distributed my app to the client. The app ran fine on my machine, but not on any of theirs. Turns out that since I had VStudio 2019 on my machine, this dll was already in my system path. This is probably why your developers didn't catch it either - it probably runs fine on all your computers.

And yes, this is on 64-bit Windows.
